Beneficial ownership declaration must be done within 10 business days after company registration else the company will be de-registered. Beneficial ownership information must also be updated or resubmitted with director changes and when the company’s annual returns are submitted.

To conduct business as an official commercial entity within South Africa, you need to register as a company with the CIPC.

  • Obtain share certificates. A share certificate is legal proof of ownership of a company, issued to all shareholders.
  • Obtain a BEE Affidavit. A BEE affidavit serves as a B-BBEE certificate in the case of Exempted Micro Enterprises (EME’s) where no other verification is required.

Non-profit company (NPC):

  • Non-profit company registration with the CIPC.
  • Not to be confused with NPO registration.
