What is it?

What is it?
Registration of a business with South African Revenue Services (SARS) as a VAT vendor, which means that the business will charge VAT on its products or services, pay VAT to SARS, and claim back VAT on expenses.
Why do I need it?
VAT registration is mandatory for any business that earns an excess of R1 million in income, or is likely to earn an excess of R1 million in income, within a 12 month period. Any new business that has traded more than R50 000 since company registration may voluntarily register for VAT.

What is it?
An annual return is a statutory return in terms of the Companies and Close Corporations Acts and therefore MUST be complied with.
Why do I need it?
All companies and close corporations are required by law to lodge their annual returns with CIPC within a certain period of time every year. Failure to do so will result in the Commission assuming that the company and/or close corporation is not doing business or is not intending on doing business in the near future. Non-compliance with annual returns may lead to deregistration.

What is it?

Why do I need it?

What is it?
A BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) affidavit that states the BEE status of micro-enterprises.
Why do I need it?
In terms of the BEE regulations, micro-enterprises are businesses with turnover of under R10 million per annum. These businesses do not need to complete a formal BEE certification process, but can complete a standard affidavit to declare their BEE status. Micro-enterprises qualify for a minimum BEE recognition status of level 4, with improved levels for businesses with a higher percentage of black ownership.

What is it?
The name reservation process checks that your name is not already in use and, if not, reserves it for you for one year. You can use it as a name for a new company or to replace the name of an existing company that you are a director of.
