What is the difference between a remover of goods in bond and a road haulier?

A road haulier, also referred to as a transporter, may move bonded goods using a security (bond) belonging to the consignee or consignor.

A remover of goods in bond has a bond to the value of the shipment tax in their own name.

How often does a bonded transport registration need renewal?

Bonded transport registrations (including road haulier and remover of goods in bond licenses) expire every year on the 31st of December.

SARS usually allows for renewals to be submitted from late in November, or from the 1st of December. Renewals submitted before the season opens expire at the end of the same year.
